Teen Traffic Court

Juvenile Traffic Arraignments

Juvenile traffic arraignments are held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 AM, regular Arraignment dates/times. Please come 10 minutes early and sign in at the Clerk’s window.

If you are a juvenile with a traffic violation, you will either:

  • Attend Teen Teen Traffic Program
  • See the Judge to enter a plea

Teen Traffic Program

Teen Traffic Program is a program that offers first time offenders the opportunity to have their citation dismissed upon successful completion of the program. A no contest or guilty plea must be entered in order to participate in teen court.

Availability & Sentencing

At this time, Teen Traffic Program Sentencing options include but are not limited to:

  • Intake Screenings
  • Mentoring Services
  • Know the Law / Citation Education
  • Alcohol and Drug Awareness Education
  • Defensive Driving
  • Virtual Driver Program

If the Teen Traffic Program is not completed successfully, you will be referred back to the Municipal Court to face additional Contempt Charges for Failure to Comply with Teen Court and your citation will remain on your record.

Teen Court Penalties

Penalties in Municipal Court can include any of the above, as well as a fine of up to $500 and the citation will remain on your record. If you feel you are not guilty of the violation and wish to have a trial, please remain in the courtroom to see the judge for a trial date.

Repeat Offenders

If you are not asked to participate in the Teen Traffic Program, this means that you have had a traffic violation in the past. The Teen Traffic Program is only for first time offenders. If this is not the juvenile’s first appearance in the Municipal Court, he/she will be asked to enter the court room for arraignment.

During the arraignment, the juvenile will be able to plead guilty, no contest, or not guilty. If a not guilty plea is given, a trial date will be set and a Notice of Trial will be issued. If a guilty or no contest plea is given, the juvenile will be sentenced at that time. After sentencing the juvenile will be asked to report to the clerk’s window for further paperwork.
