Junior Zookeeper

Jr. Zookeeper registration for 2023 has closed. Check back for information about next year's Jr. Zookeeper day camp program. 

Jr. Zookeepers go behind the scenes to learn about animal behavior, diet, and environment. Jr. Zookeepers will also learn about the animals on a visual, behavioral, and emotional level. In addition to environmental and educational enrichment with the animals, Jr. Zookeepers will learn how to recognize animal tracks and the maintenance and care of our animals and their habitats. Jr. Zookeepers will be dirty and tired when they return home.

The Alameda Park Zoo has been providing wonderful animal experiences in Alamogordo since 1898. We also have a long history of educating and interacting with youth and animals at our facility. The Jr. Zookeeper program is a great way to get a behind the scenes look at a zookeeper or wildlife manager career.
