Each year through the Great Alamo Cleanup, 24 square miles of Alamogordo parks are cleaned, greened, and beautified. We gather with friends, family & co-workers to remove litter from our roadways, and out of our parks. We get dirty planting trees, flowers, and shrubbery and laugh & smile while painting fences, buildings, and graffitied walls. Through these volunteer efforts our community is brighter and better and we need you to join us!!!
BUT, HOW DO WE DO IT?
With you of course! KAB heavily relies on volunteers who are proud to call our community home, want to make a positive impact on our green spaces and takes ownership of the environment around us.
MAKE AN IMPACT:
Volunteers from all over Alamogordo and the surrounding areas work hard to eradicate litter, improve recycling, and beautify our community! KAB can provide the tools, but we need you to share your passion for a better cleaner community and volunteer your time.
GAIN EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE:
Our KAB Team will lead and guide you, helping you to gain hands-on experiences that you can carry through into your lives at home.
BE PART OF A TEAM:
Join like-minded people who care about our community and environment for a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful Alamogordo!
KAB offers many programs and volunteer-led projects that have a positive impact on our community.
PLANTINGS AND NATIVE HABITATS:
We believe a beautiful city needs more than asphalt, buildings, and concrete. Volunteer at a planting or habitat restoration project to help create a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful landscape!
Beautification is more than just making areas look good with plants, trees, and vegetation, or new paint, or removing litter. We want civic pride to shine through with each project. Join us at a Great Alamo Cleanup, Adopt-A-Spot, Curb Your Tree, or a Litter Free Event to make Alamogordo cleaner, greener, and more beautiful.
ENGAGING IN THE COMMUNITY:
We don't just organize volunteers; we rely on them. From youth, to civic groups; neighbors to corporate partners, there is a place for folks of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds at our volunteer projects. KAB volunteers are more than just regular volunteers #WeAreKAB.
Head to our ever-changing volunteer project calendar to sign up for a project involving ending littering, improving recycling, or beautifying our community. Register as an individual or as a group.
For youth groups, civic groups, or business who want to have a greater impact by committing both volunteers and funding/in-kind donations to KAB, we create and coordinate Custom Caring Days for your team year-round.
Community Events in our community means trash. Litter Free Events help make sure your community event is litter free. You can sign up to have your event become a Litter Free Event or you can sign up to participate in a Litter Free Event.
Ready to take your level of commitment to our community the next level? Commit to keeping an area in our city clean by adopting a sot to call your own, and you can come get supplies today!
GREAT ALAMO CLEANUP:
Join KAB for the biggest event of the spring! Help eliminate litter, improve recycling, eradicating unsightly weeds or graffiti, or beautify our community in other ways. Join us for the Great Alamo Cleanup in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup beginning in March every year!
So you got your hands dirty planting or cleaning up, and now you're looking for a bigger commitment? Great! Join our Ambassadors team to get more involved. Ambassadors help lead teams and at times events and promote KAB in our community!
If plants, trees, and shrubs are your thing, this group is for you. Shrub Tenders help our Community Arborists take care of the vegetation we plant and can lead plantings.
Beginning in 2021, KAB will launch a new volunteer incentive program... Buttons. Keeping Alamogordo beautiful requires people, to put in the work. KAB doesn't want that effort to go unnoticed. The more you volunteer with KAB, the more patches you can earn. The more buttons you earn the more likely you are to receive the Standout Volunteer Button.
Patches are to be ironed on your KAB Volunteer Vest you receive when you sign up to be a volunteer with KAB.
