4th of July Parade & Fireworks

Join us on Sunday, July 4th for our annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular!!!

The incredible annual fireworks display will launch from a new location this year due to circumstances beyond the City's control.  The Good News is more citizens will have the opportunity to get a front-row seat to the display!  The Fireworks will be launching from the northeast corner of Hanglider Park on Fairgrounds Road.  The Griggs Sports Complex and Bark Park will have free open parking and citizens are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and find a great spot in the grass to enjoy the display!  There will be additional overflow parking just east of the Otero County Fairgrounds and in the Fairgrounds' parking lot where the Sounds of Freedom event will be taking place from 4pm to 10pm on July 4th. Pupfish Field will be open to the public as well and adult beverages will be available for purchase.  For additional questions, you can contact the City of Alamogordo Special Events Coordinator, Josh Sides at 575-439-4159.

What if the weather is bad?

In the event of inclement weather on Sunday, July 4th, the City of Alamogordo along with Pyro Shows of Texas Fireworks will postpone the fireworks display to Monday, July 5th at 9 pm.

Access to Fairgrounds Road from N. Florida Ave. through Champion Way would then be blocked until 3 am on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.  Emergency medical vehicles have been advised as to how to access the hospital in the event of an emergency.

Griggs Complex along with the Bark Park will be open for spectator parking.  Please use caution in this area as it will be highly congested.   We ask that you adhere to the traffic signs and signals, and be prepared to wait patiently to exit the parking areas.

Reminder: There will be a temporary closure to a section of Fairgrounds Road from Saturday, July 3 at 8 am through Monday, July 5 at 3 am due to the presence of explosives. See the PSA below.
