Due to COVID-19 the Free Tax Services provided by the AARP foundation have been suspended until further notice. We are sorry for the inconvenience. The Tax deadline has been extended to July 15th, 2020.
Beginning on January 29th, 2020, the local AARP Foundation Tax-Aide office will start preparing and e-filing free federal and state income tax returns, at the Sgt. Willie Estrada Memorial Civic Center. The Alamogordo field office is manned by 20 volunteers and last year they filled 1,400 returns. “Our free Tax-Aide services strongly support the AARP Foundation’s efforts in reducing senior poverty”, said Norm Renfrow, manager of the field office. The office hours are 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM on Mon, Wed, and Fri on a first come first serve basis between Jan 29th - Apr 15th. There are no income limits and all taxpayers, regardless of age are welcome. Bring all tax documents such as W2s, retirement and social security forms, bank interest, and brokerage statements. Taxpayers need photo ID cards and social security cards for all persons reported on the tax return. For more information call Norm Renfrow at 575-415-7601.
