Public Works

Public Works Appreciation Week!

May 16 - 22, 2021

It is with great pride that I am able to bring into the spotlight and highlight the fantastic, hard-working, very professional, and proficient men and women that make up the Public Works Department. Their dedication and skill level in which they perform their everyday tasks for the citizens of Alamogordo is all-inclusive and impressive. The Public Works Department is made up of 11 different divisions which are, Water Filter, Waste Water, Utility Maintenance, Utility Construction, Street Maintenance, Weeds and Drainage, Landfill, Collection Center, Facility Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, and Administration. I have quite often expressed that these 11 divisions and the men and women working in them are the backbone of the City. Every day these individuals continue to institute and maintain all services that are essential to living in the great City of Alamogordo. From providing clean water and the infrastructure to deliver it to homes and businesses and providing the infrastructure to dispose of the wastewater; to maintaining and repairing all roads for citizens and emergency operations; to maintaining and preventing flooding and keeping weeds under control; to providing avenues for solid waste disposal; to maintaining traffic signals, street lighting and maintaining the buildings that are necessary for the City to function; to repairing all the vehicles including emergency that support and protect the Citizens of Alamogordo and of course all of the Administration services it takes to keep all of these divisions running smoothly. It is an honor to be the Director over this extremely important and necessary Department that brings so much to the Citizens of the City.

I would like to express my appreciation to all of those individuals and the dedicated work they do to provide all of these necessary services to

the Citizens of Alamogordo. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and professionalism you bring with you every day to serve and provide our great City. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to showcase these individuals that make up the Public Works Department and recognized them during Public Works appreciation week.

"Public Works is the salt of the earth and the backbone of our great City. They are the unsung heroes. They maintain our water system, repair and build our streets, pick up our trash, demolish our dilapidated structures, maintain our City vehicles and facilities, and treats our wastewater. They are often overlooked and forgotten about, but they hold a special place in my heart. Thank you to all of our public works employees. I see you, I appreciate you, and I am proud to lead you." - Brian Cesar, Alamogordo City Manager
